Harakeke (Phormium tenax) is one of New Zealand’s most treasured plants—deeply woven into both traditional Māori healing (rongoā) and everyday life.
Harakeke has long sword-like leaves and produces a rich gel at its base. Every part of the plant has been used traditionally—for weaving, medicine, and skin care.
